I have a 250gb Samsung 840 EVO as my system drive. Today I added a new 840 PRO as a second drive.

After running a benchmark with the Samsung magician app, I noticed that the PRO is not performing as well as the EVO. I was under the impression that PRO would be a faster drive?

Both drives are using the Sata 6.0Gb/s as seen below.

Is this normal or are the bencmarks just not accurate?

That does indeed look odd. Are they connected to the same SATA controller, or is one connected to some third-party (i.e. non-chipset) controller? Have you updated the firmware for the drive? I would expect better performance than that regardless of both of the above, but it's all I can think of that might be wrong at the moment.

Edit: just saw the "Firmware version: Latest" in Magician. Guess that rules that out.

Also, try running some other benchmarks? CrystalDiskMark, HDTach (useful for the classic 840 Evo firmware SNAFU at least), there are a whole bunch out there.

So I tried connecting the 840 Pro to the same Sata controller as the 840 Evo and it fixed the speeds!

However now my third Vertex SSD is running slow when connected to the marvel connector.

Is this normal that the Marvel connector is so slow compared to the Intel one? Or might this be a driver problem? I would prefer if all my SSD drives would perform at their max speed and the motherboard only has two Intel ports :(

Running Windows 10 64bit and my motherboard is Asus P8P67 EVO B3 LGA1155
