Samsung 840 pro 128GB latency issues, 256GB - solution?

Hi guys, i will be buying the 840 pro 256GB version tomorrow, i heard the 128GB version have issues with latency (write) and that the 256GB almost solves this, or its alot better even it still have some problems.

Is it worth, to get 256GB just cause of this? i won't need 256GB methinks, (85 euros more for 256GB)

And also is the 840 pro still the king of SSD's atm? i can get the vector for a bit more...

What kind of usage are you buying the SSD for? If it's just for normal desktop use, you won't benefit enough from Pro drive to notice.

Regular to moderate usage, i like to multitask, and i hate to wait when i install big programs, i format the OS often also...

I don't know when does increased latency issues would come into play? how would i notice them? is it possible to be fixed via firmware? thanks.

I have heard (read) of theoretical issues with the 840 series (not PRO) 120 GB SSDs. Have not seen (read of) any on the 840 PRO.
Owners do not (outside of benching) seem to notice.
The 256 SSDs do function better than the 128 versions.
The 840 EVO (an improved 840) is due out the 20th I think.
The 256 GB 840 PRO is definitely very very good.

If anyone has any more input about this i would be greatfull i will be getting the SSD tomorrow, so i must know sooner...

Also is leaving spare area, absolutely the same as leaving the SSD with same size of capacity unused/free?

Thanks.

If you're concerned, why not just get another SSD, like a Crucial M500, Corsair Neutron, Plextor M5, or Sandisk Ultra Plus (or Extreme II)?

I have been running the 840 Pro 128 GB on my desktop for five months now and it works fine. I do a lot of multitasking and photo editing with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop and I have seen no performance issues at all. Of course this is an upgrade from a HDD main drive for me so the lightning boot speed was somewhat shocking at the beginning. The OS and all my critical programs only take up about 60GB of the SSD. Anything that is not critical I run off the Western Digital HDD.

Hope this helps.
