Hi folks,

I am planning to buy an ssd for medium gaming and daily use. And of the reviews which i saw for both the drives samsung seems to be reliable with its mdx controller but uses an TLC nand having less lifetime. And iam not able to find exact comparison of the two. Hence kindly advise which drive will be worth for purchase.

And motherboard is limited by 3gb/s sata Gigabyte p55-us3l

The following are the only drive options available here in my city's local store

Samsung 840 non pro 120 gb - Rs.7250 /-
Kingston ssdnow v300 120gb - Rs.6300 /-
Corsair force 3 gs 128gb - Rs 8200 /-

Please advise which one would be better choice here and would be grateful if you can compare samsung and kingston.

My pc specs :
Core i5 760
8gb DDR3 corsair ram
ATI HD 4870 512 mb
P55-us3l motherboard
corsair TX 650 PSU

Looking forward for your suggestion. Thanks in advance

If I was looking, I'd go here: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/ssd-charts-2012/benchmarks,129.html , pick out a couple benchmarks you think might apply to you, and then see if those drives are listed and how they perform. Afterwards start looking for a good price on whichever one you think looks best.
Hi Tracer,

Thanks for the link. From the benchmarks which i checked out it seems that samsung tops the kingston drive (pls correct me if iam wrong) and random read seems to be good in samsung. I dont think sequential read/write is my concern since i wont be doing that often. The write speed is lower in samsung , but then the main concern is TLC nand which seems to have shorter life span.

Could you please advise on the same ,as in how long will it last for daily near heavy usage. Is it worth to get the TLC drive ? or on that basis should i go with mlc kingston one ? And also the benchmarks are based on 6gb/s port , can you please let me know the impact of this drive on sata 3gb/s port.

Thanks in advance

Thanks guys. I went over and bought the samsung 840 120 gb. Gonna install windows 7 and will let u know how it goes.

Is there any specific settings for my motherboard ? i guess changing the mode to AHCI and then installing windows 7 with other drives disconnected should work. Or should i install any special drivers for the sata interface while installing windows 7. If so please advise how to install the same , since i have only the windows 7 64 bit Disc with me.

And also i haven't installed any AHCI drivers previously. Can i install windows 7 on ssd and then boot into to install the drivers? or how would i install the same when installing windows 7.

Thanks in advance
