More incorrect postings from tweakboy then.

tweakboy, PLEASE pay more attention to the details on what you post. I am sick of reading this forum and finding out 5 minutes later what you have posted is totally wrong.

If gaming is not your thing and peformance is.

For less money ($150 to be exact) and way way way better overall performance. Yes I did say triple. Read speed in the 900MB/s and write speed in the 800MB/s.

Get two OCZ Vertex 4 128GB from NewEgg and RAID 0. If you have a Series 7 Intel MB with the latest iRST driver. You do onto sacrifice TRIM.

This setup will put the 840 PRO to shame.

Uavaj, that's a good idea for someone who's not maxed out their sata ports. My present situation is the opposite. I have 8 ports on board (built into the system board), 2 esatas, and 2 addin pci-1x cards with 2 ports each. I have 10 physical drives, and a card reader with a front facing esata port. Every available port is precious.

While benchmark performance will be outstanding with a raid0 as you mention above, real world applications will be limited with 256GB. I don't think this is enough room for a scratch disk. Maybe really fast game load times.

Kind of a shame the the 840 under performs compared to the 830; the 256GB 830 can still be had for $190 at a few vendors, but not for long. I hope Samsung can bounce back from this.

The use of TLC NAND and life expectancy is a hugely overblown IMHO.

Looks like the original post got edited so I'm not sure if I'm looking at apples / apples. That said -

The original post here triggered me to look around at SSD's and I came across this. $180 - 12% is about $158, and shipping is free. Includes a coupon for Far Cry 3 as well which they claim is worth $50. That doesn't make it a $108 drive, but for 250GB it still seems pretty good?

Hope so, I bought one. I won't speak to how this one performs, but I know it'll be faster than any mechanical spinning platter drive I currently own, and should pair well with the SATA III ports on the board I also ordered.

I don't game (I get motion sick too easily) and am hoping I can sell the game coupon here or on ebay or something. If I even get $30 or $40 for it I'm thinking I did well.
