Hello.
I have an HP laptop and was thinking of upgrading the hard drive to 250 gb. This is for the samsung 840 250 GB drive. Its a hell of a deal.

Currently I have this drive,
Intel X25-M 120 GB Solid State Drive

I bought it 2 years ago but 120 gb is so small. I wanted some software on the 250. Here is the specs for my current drive.

Which do you think is better? Thanks! Should i just keep the Intel 120 or upgrade to the samsung 250. Thanks!
 
Both are fast enough that you probably won't notice the speed difference outside of benchmarks.

Buy it if you want the extra space. Don't expect the speed to change, outside of the placebo effect 🙂

(The one case where you might notice a difference is if you are so low on free space in the 120 GB that it's spending extra time when writing files)
 
What are you storing that makes 120GB small? Tons of programs and games, or stuff like music? If it's the latter, maybe get an SD card or external drive?
 
tracer has a good point, the SSD value comes in when you have programs and games that require speed. Otherwise, it might be more worthwhile to have a data drive.

If you must have everything with you, then do it. Also, if your laptop has a CD drive, and you don't use it often, they make bay adapters so you can place a second data drive into the CD drive area.

I had a 160GB drive and even with only windows, programs and game installs it was filling up quick. So it's not unreasonable to want a 250gb drive.

:thumbsup::thumbsup: Absolutely spot on. The jump from HDD to SSD is huge, but the jump from one SSD to another is much less so.
 
Totally. I just more space. I installed win 7 on it and its running great so far. No issues. I did it for my desktop. I see another good deal for large ssd ill put it on my desktop as well.
