Got a 830 128GB model in a laptop I may want to use in a future haswell build. I know new drives are faster in benchmarks, but in real world "feel" will I notice?

Not enough to spend the money on a new drive unless you need more capacity. I went from the same drive you have to a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB because I needed more space. It does "feel" slightly faster, but I doubt if you'd notice it in typical daily use.

GB not MB :)

I don't think so. SSDs feel faster than HDDs mainly because the data access times are an order of magnitude lower (or more). SSDs compared to each other on this score are hardly different at all, the differences are usually more about how well they handle heavy simultaneous loads as well as raw throughput.

In terms of day-to-day stuff like Windows boot times and app start times, I doubt I could tell the difference between the slowest SSD I've used (except one piddly one I found in a netbook once, it took something like 40 minutes to install OpenOffice on it!!) and the Samsung 840 PROs I use these days.

(I've used the Samsung 830, Crucial M4 and 840 PRO)

Personally, if you are keeping the laptop... leave it where it is and get a new one for your new build.

Is 128GB acceptable for windows 7 & programs? I do use an NAS for my storage.

I plan to have 16 or 32GB ram, and am concerned the pagefile might eat a ton of space. Although turning it off may be the best bet?

Agree with everyone else speed wise you won't notice much of a difference I would only be looking at something else if you need more capacity!

check to verify you have sata2 or sata3. My 830 128gig is limited to my sata2 port and is still cpu bound when I reopen chrome with 10 tabs.

I use a Samsung 830 128G with Win7, full Adobe Creative Suite, Sony audio and video editing software, AutoCAD and a bunch of other crap on it and have plenty of room left. I moved some desktop folders and scratch files to other hard drives, but the pagefile and temp files are still on the SSD. 16G RAM.
