Samsung 830 - dead? Showing 1GB capacity

Sorry to bump an old thread but I didn't wanna make a new one because everything in here is all too relevant.

The same thing is happening to my 840. It's also about 6 months old, and I also bought mine from Amazon.

None of the SMART info shows up in Samsung Magician (its all blank.)

It shows in the bios as 1 gb and in Disk Management it shows as Not Initialized and 960 MB unallocated. When I try to initialize it I get a i/o error.

Try a new SATA cable first, see if that helps.
Did you try to secure erase it, as was mentioned above ?
If you didn't have backups, then... nothing much you can do, except a recovery service.

Also, your E: drive looks like it is about to fail...
