I purchased the Samsung 753DF monitor when I saw a bargain post in the Hot Deal group. Man, am I glad I jumped @ the deal. I paid $155 for this monitor (will be $125 if Samsung rebate me the $30). This monitor performs better than my Sony SF2 when I paid $750 for it 3 years ago. Running @ a resolution of 1152 x 854 @ 75Hz, the text is still sharp... can be better if I hook it up to my main pc or a better video card.

I've been looking all over for a good deal on one of these. I had one on order from Onvia for $200 w/free shipping and $30 rebate. They cancelled the order :| The best I've found is Outpost for $220 free shipping and $30 rebate. Anyone do any better?

Zuffy,

How does this compare to the KDS 17" w/ Trinitron tube flat panel? It looked fabulous in the store - stood out among all the rest? Is the KDS a POS? I like the flat fronts and sharpness because bad monitors really increased my contact prescription - like from 20/80 to 20/200 within two years of working with computers!!

Davegod75,

I got this monitor from Amazon for $205 with free shipping. I used the $50 off $200 coupon so my cost is $155... if I can get my rebate from Samsung then the cost will be down to $125 :)

TGirl,

I don't have a KDS trinitron monitor (mine is a Sony F400) but my friend has one. It's definitely a nice monitor for the price. I still prefer Sony though... it's a bias opinion since I own almost everything Sony. The trinitron tube is brighter and sharper than the Samsung 753DF but don't think that the 753DF suck. Trinitron tubes are generally brighter than shadow mask. The best I can say is if you can afford a trinitron tube monitor, buy the KDS otherwise the Samsung 753DF is a good alternative. Here's a good review of the Samsung 753DF.

The Samsung 753DF is probably a better deal than the KDS, but the image can't be compared because they're different types of tubes. Both are flat, but the KDS has better image clarity being an aperture grille. I'd still get the samsung since you won't be using really high resolutions on a 17inch monitor, and the price difference is substantial...

It was $259 not on sale or rebates so I figured I'd shop around and wait for rebates to come out. It's a SHAME my son is grounded and won't be able to use his computer or MONITOR for at least 3 weeks! He He! I guess I'll be forced to use his for now.

So I guess you are all saying it is better but more expensive. They had a great sale on it at O Depot but coupon ran out 12/31. Crap! I'll bide my time and maybe another one will pop up in the next few weeks.

Thanks for your input. By the way, PC World rates the Samsung Syncmaster 700NF #2 out of the top 10 17" monitors.
