This was a similar deal before at Onvia were the monitor was selling for $212.87 + free shipping, no tax + $30 rebate. Total came out to 182.87. Good find.

How does this monitor compare to the 17" KDS Trinitron? Does anybody know from reviews OR experience?

This is a really nice monitor. I pricematched at Staples with Buy.com's 230 something. Told them there was free shipping, used the rebate, and they let me use a 80 off coupon. Brought it to 143 after tax.

Damm! That is a really SWEET monitor! It has .20mm dot pitch! Only thing else that you could want is 100Hz refresh, but 1024x786 at 85Hz isn't bad (especially since I have a 15 inch .22mm dot pitch that can only do 60Hz refresh no matter what the size (1024x768 max) )

This is far better than the Trinitron. I worked at best buy and I compared the two side by side while they were hooked up to a video card, not the splitter box. The samsung has better colors, gets brighter, has an anti-glare coating, doesnt have that shadow, and looks sharper at higher resolutions/refresh rates. The sony is lighter than the samsung, but thats no too impotant unless you do a lot of lan parties.
