Originally I wanted to get the Samsung 710T (same as 172X, but with 16.7 mil colors rather than the 16.2 mil w/ dithering), so I went to check out the monitors in action at BestBuy, and the NEC1765 simply blew me away. The image sharpness, the colors, the lack of bluring and complete lack of ghosting (it's a 16ms display) made me notice it right away. All the monitors were playing the same video sequences so I could compare them side by side, and the NEC1765 was by far the best monitor in the entire isle (although there was no 710T or 172X, there was the 710MP).
However, what puzzles me is that the NEC 1765 is not mentioned much and doesn't have many reviews. Mostly the Samsungs steal all the attention. The only two drawbacks that I've seen on the NEC1765 is the lack of DVI connection (only analog is available) and the protective glass screen which causes lots of glare.

The store was probably running all the monitors on analog connection. Do you guys think that if they switched all the other monitors to the DVI, the image quality would improve by a TON to match that of the NEC1765? The NEC1765 was looking truely amazing compared to all the other monitors...

Does anyone have any additional info/opinions on that NEC1765? It seemed to me that its 16ms response time was much better than the 12ms on the Samsung 710MP.

Same thing here...I was looking into the 710T online, but when I went to circuit city, the NEC 1765 really stood out from the others.
