So, I'm about to replace my 5 year old ViewSonic 17" CRT (E771). I t has a few scratches on the surface that I really hate. I was thinking about getting an LCD, as the price have some down considerably.
However, there's a drawback to this. Most 17" flat panels (all I can afford) are based on TN panels. After doing some research, I discovered that TN panels are very fast (12-16ms) but do not have very good color reproduction (6-bit) and constrast.
A few sites recommend getting lcds based on PVA/MVA technology, but I can't seem to find a lot of them and the ones I found are waaay too expensive.
So my question is: Would switching to a Samsung 710N be a step up or a step down from my CRT?
I'm a graphics/web designer, so I work with lots of graphics apps. I don't play games at all, but I can't really afford a 19" PVA panel, as they are three to four times the price of a TN 17" (like the 710N) here in Argentina.
What should I do???
