Samsung 50 inch plasma with a black line!

I have a three year old, Samsung 50 inch plasma television. A very thin, horizontal, black line that goes from one side of the screen to the other has appeared about in the middle of the screen. I have contacted Samsung who said to update the firmwear, unfortunately this hasn't helped.

Their recommended repair agents tell me it needs a new screen, but the cost outweighs the value of the television.

Has anyone experience of this and is it fixable please?

If you have the input set to TV/Cable is the line still there through the static? Is it there on all of your inputs and across menus?

This is why I bought a Panasonic plasma.

Yea, check all the source/inputs and see if the problem is still evident. And if you are using it with a home theater receiver, bypass that and try the source connected directly to the TV. Also, try swapping the cables out and see if it's a cable problem, too.
