Samsung 32" HDTV -- $999 BJs B&M (Salem, NH) (Updated)

<<Forget about regular TVs as you know it. It's time to get into to the HD era. Here's proof. BJ's B&M (Salem, NH) has Samsung 36" HDTV for $999. I was amazed to see the deal at first, but upon double checking... it was true. 36" HDTV under 1000 is amazing. I'm sure there will be major price reductions in this area in the coming years.>>

Called again to check it. It's a Samsung DynaFlat HDTV 32" and not 36" as I previously mistook for. Model No. TSL 3295. The deal that 'mboy' suggested ($910 at Sears) seems even better than this one.

Cool! Don't think I'd plop down 1000 bones on a Samsung, but cool! I'll wait until Toshiba figures out how to make them cheaper 😛

I'm interested in the Model #: Samsung hasn't offered a 36" HDTV
as far as I've heard -- and I don't find it on their web site (but not having
all one's products covered there wouldn't be a "first").

They do make a TV that's between regular and HDTV: the TXK3679.
Higher resolution, but not up to HDTV. For these, $999 might not be a
bargain, as Samsung offers them around $900(?). Then again, I'm
guessing you're writing about some model I haven't seen detailed.

Some Samsung HDTV's were spoken well in Consumer Reports, but
they were 4:3 ratio, not 16:9, I believe. I'd only go with the latter
(for wide movie presentation).

I do not believe Samsung makes a 36" HDTV. I just got a TSL3294hf HDTV directly from them for $910 delivered. It is AWESOME! For the guy who doesnt want to plunk down $1k on a Samsung is CRAZY. MY Samsung BLOWs away any Tosh, Panasonic, JVC or Phillips Direct view HDTV. The Tosh is NOTORIOUS for Geometry problems as is the Panny. The only thing comparable IMHO is the Wega 32XBR450 and it is Def. not worth 2xs what I paid for my Samsung. Progressive DVD thru my TV is simply awesome! If they do make a 36" HDTV (again I don't think they do, dont even think they make a 36"EDTV), then I would have to recommend it as mine is simply SUPERB!

I just received confirmation from one of the hometheater boards. The model at BJ's is the TSL3295hf. It is a 32" and is the exact one I just purchased (the model # I have is designated for Sears only so they don't have to price match). This is a VERY hot deal as nothing in the price range even comes close to this TV. I have had mine for 3 weeks now and to put it simply IT IS AWESOME. I researched HDTV's for 3 mos before purchasing it! Be warned, this TV us VERY large and VERY heavy!

Weren't there a story about the Manufactures making a DVI standard on new HDTVs that would render all current HDTV without this port useless???
There is no way I am buying a TV that is going to be obsolete right after the purchase.

It's all speculation right now. It's like not upgrading your computer because you want to wait for something better. Those who think current HDTV's will be obsolete anytime soon are very foolish and are trying to scare everyone. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. Imagine all the class action lawsuits by everyone who owns a TV that says HDTV on it, but wont be able to use it?

It's no longer speculation....

Yes, you will need a set with DVI in order to use the HDTV DVD players and future HDTV set-top boxes. Most consumer electronics manufactures have already announced (and some are shipping, like Sony) HDTV and HDTV-ready sets with DVI.

Um, thats not correct. Sets have been shipping with DVI for a while, but the WHOLE debate is over copy protection for recording HDTV and that has not been settled yet, nor will it be for a while. Worst case scenario is you are going to have to acquire a component video to DVI converter IF in fact they adopt the copyright encryption scheme they are discussing. To say the issue has been settled is a very big MisStatement.

**ALso, I did bot get my TSL3294HF from Sears (however it is a sears only model). I got it Directly thru Samsung. They frequently auction off TV's on Ebay towards the end of the month. I did not get mine thru auction, but did a little research, contacted a seller directly and was privy to their cost on the TV thru various HT forums. I was able to get it shipped directly to my door from Samsung for $910 TOTAL. I never posted it as a hot deal because it probably isn't widely available, is limited to stock on hand at time of inquiry. If you put the leg work into it, you can probably get as good a deal. $999 at BJ's is simply AWESOME for this TV tho and I Highly recommend anyone in the market for a 32" Flatscreen to get a big A** truck and go get one!

lol. i just checked out the thread bc it was posted by "smokingjoker"

i guess you know you're famous on a board when ppl make up spinoff names
