samsung 245bw + xfx 7900gs = only one widescreen resolution

Hi.
I have a 245bw and a 7900gs, connected via DVI. The only widescreen resolution I can display in WinXP (or any game) is 1920x1200 (native rez). I have tried reinstalling monitor drivers, and various versions of nvidias gfx drivers (always making sure to uninstall the previous drivers, and remove reg. entries). I tried adding custom resolutions (from the nvidia control panel), but they appear blurry. I'd like my monitor to be able to display lower widescreen resolutions (1440x900 for example). Is this possible?

I also tried unchecking "hide modes my monitor..." and also all 4 options under change flat panel scaling, in nvidia control panel. When I hook up my xb360 to the monitor (via VGA), it can display other, smaller, widescreen resolutions.

I'd appreciate any help.

Use custom resolution through the nvidia control panel, they ARE supposed to appear blurry since they are not native.

Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed aspect ratio for 16:9 and 4:3/5:4 resolutions.

All my Widescreen monitors do the same, nothing custom resolutions haven't been able to fix.

Thanks for the reply. Didn't know they were supposed to be blurry.
How come they aren't with other video cards, or with the xb360?

Another question: how come when I select "Do not scale" from the nVidia control panel, and then pick a widescreen resolution smaller than my native one (1920x1200), it still scales, and fills the entire screen?
