Not surprising. 99% of PC LCD monitors don't support HDCP. Of course, if the movie industry didn't push this crap on us in the first place it wouldn't be a problem...

it is, it even says in the manual. how can someone write something in a manual that is not true to the product. it doesnt exist. no way. ive seen things NOT written in manuals that products have, but nothing that has written, that products dont have. If that were to be true, you could start a law suit agains the company, and in court you have the knife from the handle. I guarantee you the good people at samsung read their manuals 3 times before they are published.

if you have the dough, buy this monitor. By the time you even have to worry about HDCP (even assuming that this monitor doesnt support it) you will upgrade your monitor again. SED is coming out in 2007 starting with large HD screens, and in early 2008 we should start to see large computer screens (20 and up). just imagine 100.000:1 contrast, and below 1ms response times. who wants LCD anymore? And I guarantee, you will not be watching HD movies on your computer for a while. At least not until they crack ACSS... (give it 6 months and some jew from sweden will find the keys again).

if HD and Blue ray comes out in late 2006, and so does vista, i predict both vista and HD media, will become common and affordable about half a year later. so think more mid 2007. wait another half year, and get SED. then your really set!

TecHNooB, you should have read the entire thread first before jumping to premature conclusions.

I'm not saying that 244t does support HDCP for sure because to be honest with you, I don't know this. I'm only saying that the manual clearly says HDCP, plus some guy from Sweden got a confirmation from Samsung on the HDCP support - which you can read further in the thread you have linked us to. In other words, the statement written in the first post of the thread was negated afterwards.

i woudl buy it anyway. by the time HD-DVD and blue ray gain any traction (and they may never since its not much of an improvement over dvd @ 720p upscaled) it willb e 5 years.

in 5 years, we will probably be downloading our rented movies over a 100mbps fiber broadband line ontoa tivo type device with 1000 gb of storage.
