So Im seriously considering buy the SAMSUNG 226bw monitor but Im not sure if my system will be able to power it safely / and if my video card is enough. I do a lot of gaming which is why my gfx card worries me with that monitor.

Current system specs:

- AMD Athlon 64 3700+
- Epox EP 9NPA+ Ultra
- 1 gig of RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS (256 MB)
- 450 PSU (forgot brand)

You will definitely not be able to run new games at that monitor's native resolution with your GFX card. But if you do a lot of gaming, your gfx gard is due for replacement anyway.

I am somehow under the impression that you believe the system powers the monitor. That is not true so don't worry about it. Sorry if that was not what you meant. Your video card does need an upgrade though if you want to play at the native resolution.

Might I suggest the 8800GT 512 MB for 210$ in some places? Though if you do get that card, your CPU and RAM will hold you back also. Might be time for a new system... depending on what games you play that is.

That graphics card should be able to run the monitor at it's native resolution just fine. You may be able to play your games at the native resolution, however, the performance may not be what you expect. Prove me wrong, but that graphics card should be able to run that at native resolution just fine.

The system as a whole could use a little bit of a bump to help it along. Upgrading the graphics card to a 8800GT would be overkill compared to the rest of the system.

Well I think that depends on the games he wants to play. I mean if he wants to play Crysis at the native resolution with that card then forget it, except with everything on low maybe. But that's no fun.

So really it depends on what games you play but any newer stuff your system will need a new overhaul.

Well, the games I play are usually Half-Life 2 mods / CS 1.6. Trust me i'm not expecting to play Crysis on full settings and what not. So with that being said, am I still looking at a so so performance with what have, and that monitor?
