Is there a way to keep the power LED from flashing other thatn manually switching the power switch?

Nope.

I want one, so I've done quite a bit of research. I have not seen anyone keep it from flashing.

the new 2232bw has a control to dim the light but not sure if it still flashes or not.

Easy fix. You press it. I just swivel my chair in front of it so I can't see it from my bed
