Not nearly as good as the Acer Staples deal, but Samsung is a well respected name for monitors.

30 bucks off a $380 item isn't hot imo, unless it is a current product made by apple.

Chiefvalue had an additional $30 instant rebate on this last week, so might want to keep an eye out if you're interested. This is supposedly the best 22" monitor out there (along with the LG).

Let us know how it looks. Some say that TN displays don't look as good as the others.

I know someone here says it's the best 22 they have seen but they really need to get out more like I have.
I am looking at one right now and I hate it. TN panels are the worst.
I am getting an education the hard way. My 19" trinitron CRT died after 12 years and Idid not keep up with LCD technology. I got a cheap-o 19" Gateway and took it back. Then a Sammy bw220 and ugh! I thaught they were defective and exchange it for the 226BW. UGH! It was the TN factor.
This 226BW will cook your eyes out. The text is Horrid! My eyes really hurt after a short period.

I am still in my 14 day CC take back. I'm gonna get it in the shorts with the re-stocking fee though.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 215TW on the way, a much better panel an IS-PVA. True 8 bit. Not an AS-IPS but a nothing to spit at.

Regardless, it's still the best 22" LCD available (since all 22's are TN). Obviously there are better technologies available if you are willing to pay for them, if not, this is for you.

btw down to $325AR now. :)

simple yes or no question

Is this better than the old school Dell 2005FPW? I'm not a gamer.

Got one a week or so ago. I'd say it's definitely nice, but I did have to lower the brightness quite a bit to make it comfortable. Also I'm still trying to play with the colors to get them "right". I ended up with an "A" panel, meaning it's an AU Optronics instead of the "S" panel, which is a Samsung panel (and supposedly the better one).

I believe only the first batch of these were the S panels, and these are the ones you see reviewed around the web. Unfortunately, the only way to determine which one you've got is to look at the back of the monitor, since it doesn't say on the box. This will likely make it more difficult to return to a lot of places.

Still, since I mainly just use it for gaming and office apps, I don't really notice any glaring problems. Might not be the best if you're big into Photoshop (at least the A panel), but it does the job well and costs the same or less as a lot of smaller monitors.

.

Did you get it from Newegg? Most people seem to be getting S panels from them, but retail stores have A's.

Nope, Buy.com. I typically don't get big ticket items from Newegg because of the tax. It's luck of the draw I guess.

This monitor is 329.99 at Best Buy today, it's in their weekly ad.

I for one, am going to get one.. for 22" everything i've read says this ones the best for the price.

Does anyone know Best Buys return policy or exchange policy on something like dead pixels?

Tax kills the deal at BB for me (of course it kills it at Newegg too if you live in CA or NJ).

Anyway I don't think BB has a dead pixel policy per se, but you can return a monitor without a restocking fee within 14 days I think.

Let us know what panel you get please.

I received an 'A' panel from Newegg Thursday, and I'm going to exchange it to try for an 'S' panel. The blotchy color in photographs and DVDs is horrible. I used it this weekend to see if I could live with it, but I can't. That's my only complaint with this monitor, everything else looks good.

I may end up with another 'A' panel, and with my luck, probably with a few dead pixels(no dead pixels on my current 'A'). But, I have to try.

I haven't noticed anything quite that bad, but I do know if you enable the dynamic contrast option, color rendering gets cut to pieces, at least on the "A" panel.

But yeah, if you're looking with something with high color fidelity, you're better off going with a more expensive MVA/PVA monitor (I hear the 215TW is excellent in this regard, but quite a bit more pricey) and save yourself the trouble.

:( Did you mention the difference in panels to Newegg? What did you tell them reason for the exchange was?
