Samsung 2233rz monitor problem.

Hello.

It's been around a month since I bought this monitor, and been working great until now and haven't done anything unusual with it.

I got these horizontal lines that are all over the screen and don't really know what's going on.

My guess is that either the dual link DVI cable is faulty which I have to replace it, or the monitor itself is faulty, which is trouble.

Does anyone have any insights/experience with this problem?

Cheers.

P.S. well, the horizontal lines did show up before in a small amount once in a while but disappeared quickly. Also, the lines comes and goes.

It can't be, because the lines show up on DOS/BIOS/ and boot up screens.

It could. That would make it a video card hardware problem, not software (driver). Do you have a spare card or monitor to test with?

It looks exactly what a graphics card did before it died in a system I fixed a year or two ago.

Well, the 2233rz isn't the first LCD I've used.

Before the 2233, I've used the Samsung 226bw with the same video card(Evga gtx 260 216) and it worked fine, so pretty sure the video card isn't the problem.

I think it's the monitor too but I would test your old monitor on the card to be sure, and/or test the new monitor on another computer/video card/onboard if you can..

Hi Mechacharge2,

I specially registered for you because i had the same problem 🙂
I hope you can read my English.

I got this monitor a month ago. When my pc was on for a while it started giving the same lines you have on your screen. Also i got weird pixels here and there...
I contacted Samsung.

It went to the rapair centre and i got it back a week later.
They changed the LCD panel. I put on the monitor directly when i got it back.
SAME PROBLEM again.

I contacted Samsung again. Again it went to the repair centre.
I got it back a week later and the lines problem was solved. But i had an other problem now.
My monitor wasnt a 2233RZ anymore by recognition of windows. It had a max resolution of 1024x768 @ 75hz... They changed the (i quote): "monitor motherboard".

I think you can guess this, but i contacted Samsung AGAIN.
AGAIN it went to the repair centre. Again got it back a week later. They installed different software to the monitor itself. Now the problems are all over. HAPPY! 😀

So it has something to do with your monitor board. I suggest you contact Samsung and directly tell by the phone that it is a big chance it's the motherboard of the monitor. If they fix it your problems are hopefully over. Maybe it is a smart idea to tape all 'visible' parts in front of the screen except for the TFT itself 🙂 When i got it bach there were scratches everywhere around the display..... ...thanks Samsung...
(made a official complaint by the way)

I hope you're saved with this solution 🙂 GOOD LUCK! YOU'LL NEED IT!

The samsung helpdesk number in the Netherlands is 0900-samsung. Don't know it is in your country

Thanks for replying.

In my case, the RMA center "tried" to fix it for a week, and they failed lol.

Instead they're sending me a new one....hopefully no dead pixels 🙂
