bluesky, IIRC there are a couple or 3 OD stores down in Tucson. It's only an hour and a half from where I live. You might try there!

Yeah, one store has it, but have to drive 120 miles one way.
Probably not gonna do it.
Easier to look around 2007fpw for a good price, even if it's not as good.
Thanks for your tip anyway.

yeah ... 240 mile drive even at 30mpg is like... 16 x $2.50 or so for fuel. thats like... $40 just to buy a monitor.

not to mention all your time.

I picked one up at my local store yesterday. They only had the display model available, but it was in flawless condition as far as I could tell and they had all of the original packaging. One benefit to getting the display model is that I know it?s been used already, so any problems with the screen should already be showing up. They said that I have 2 weeks to return it for a refund and the monitor has a 3 years manufacturer warranty, so I?m not too worried if there are any problems.

I asked about a discount for the display model and they gave me 10% off, so after tax and rebate I?ll have paid about $280 for it. Great deal! Thanks goes out to zeronine for posting this. I checked out this monitor in stores before but had written it off as out of my price range. Never thought I would be able to get it at this price.

If they don't have it in-stock at the first store, ask someone to look it up in the regional inventory.

I wasn't planning on showing up at the stores without calling in advance. It's just unusual for me to consider driving somewhere to buy an item since I have the unfortunate combination of being broke and cheap. It has to be a REALLY good deal for me to consider that.

It's the unit I want. It's tempting, but still a bit expensive. I'll pass it now for later.

I would have waited as well if I thought that I would be able to get it for cheaper down the road. I seriously doubt I would be able to pick up a monitor of this size/quality for signifigantly cheaper than $280 any time soon.

I was in OD earlier today and noticed this monitor, but didn't realize it was such a hot deal.

Question: On the display model, they have a sticker that states it can be used as a TV or Monitor. It that simply because it has an S-Video input, or does it actually have a built-in tuner?

Easy to search numerous sites and find it has NO tuner, and for what it worth a pith-poor pair of built-in speakers.

'Found one as floor model -- last unit in store. 'Asked for a discount and they declined. Asked if it came with cables, and they said "no". Nor could they find the box and manuals that came with it. Grrrr....

'Still bought it -- plus a 2yr extended warr' for $30, something I -rarely- do, but there are these stories of "red lines" appearing.

'Got home, and pulled the 215TW up on NewEgg... where the product was boxed with both DVI and VGA cables. 'Have written OD on the experience and will update this msg when they reply (or I tire of waiting). If you live near Cherry Hill, NJ, stay tuned as I may be returning this unit.

PS: if you picked one up, please PM or post the accessories yours came with -- cables, disks, etc. Thanks!
...:beer:s for your replies, you miserable creatures who got all the parts AND a discount on the floor model! :D

Edit 9/28 : I've been PM'd that VGA and DVI cables and a disk should've been provided. And OD has email'd that I should take up this problem with Samsung. :disgust: Oh well, another round of email to OD...

Edit 9/29: now OD has emailed asking me to provide the store location where I bought it -- which I'd included in the first msg. 'Get the impression that their email techs are paid $.01 per item they reply to -- that they cannot take time to actually read the email before responding.

Having this Samsung in front of me, flanked with 19" CRTs coupled under nView, is a formidable experience! Still haven't pushed any gaming/dynamic presentation at it, but it's a lovely monitor indeed.

Sweet, got one just now. The last one in three ODs in my area. FYI, Edison, Woodbridge (NJ) ODs don't have it.

Well I returned my defective one to the original store, which had no more in stock:frown: However I managed, after calling 8 stores yesterday, to find a store that had one in stock. Had to wait till today and they still had it so I picked it up.

WOW. This is a huge step up from my 15" laptop, and 17" package-deal crt. Looks great. No spots or lines or anything.

For anyone that is still looking...as of yesterday, there were 2 in stock at Vernon Hills, IL. Elk Grove Village, IL still had their display.

Thanks to the OP I picked up one of these at the Lakewood, WA Office Depot. I got the display model and lucky for me the manager had marked it down to $199.99 after rebate so I ended up paying about 365 after warranty and tax. It included the manual, cd with software and a dvi cable. I just read that some of you couldnt even get a discount on the display model so I guess I was very lucky. Thanks to the OP.

I purchased a display model last night. No discount given although I asked. I also don't understand how OD is being inconsistent with the included cables. Some people are getting DVI and VGA but I only got a VGA. Went back and complained today and was told they don't come with a DVI. :|

That's not true; the box contained both types of cables and a CD. Send a note to OD Customer service and tell them that you bought a display model for full price that was missing components. They'll either give you a discount or find a cable somewhere.

Thanks, just did so. I'm hoping they take the price they are asking for a DVI cable ($70) off of my purchase price.

Can't guarantee you'll get the money-back, but in email they've offered -me- the DVI cable while still not admitting it should have come with BOTH cables!

Still fighting this war!

If anybody wants me to post up a pic of my receipt to try to get a discount I'd be more than happy too. Pretty surprising that I was given a 100 dollar discount on the display model without even asking and some people cant even sniff a discount with asking.

This is really hot. I currently own a Dell 2007FPW and it doesn't even compare to Samsung 215TW.
