Im torn between these monitors.. I play games occasionally.. there in the same price range so it doesnt really matter about that.. does the 16 ms vs 25 ms in games really matter?

I just purchased the Samsung 213t a week ago and it's a very nice monitor. I have two other 19 inch LCD's in the house (Samsung191T,Ag Neovo F-419).

The picture quality is outstanding. I do some gaming and I'm not too interested in some ghosying when playing a game. I would rather just stay alive in the game.

I have a 2001FP and while it may not be as pretty as the 213T for 2D applications, it's awesome at gaming. I have played UT2003, Need For Speed Underground, Tiger Woods PGA 2004 and I have not noticed any ghosting whatsoever. It all depends what you'd rather have the monitor for. If you're more of a gamer go for the 2001FP. If you're not a gamer the 213T may be your best bet.

Also, you can probably find both of those cheaper on Ebay. I got my 2001FP off Ebay for a little less than $800.

Why would you not touch the Dell when all the subjective tests ranks them almost identical?

Many of the ones I have seen put the Samsung anywhere from a little bit ahead to being in a totally different league then the Dell. I have been looking to get a larger LCD for a little while now and its down to the 213t and possibly the Mitsu/NEC LCD2080ux+ (another 20" and 16ms panel). I can't find much in the way of reviews on the 2080 though.

There was somebody on here that had both the Dell and Samsung and posted a pretty good comparision. Most of the ones I have seen follow the same lines = The 213t has much better image quality. The Dell is a little bit better for gaming.

So as far as "all the subjective tests ranks them almost identical" thats not what I have seen at all. Everyone I have seen favors the Samsung with the exception that they usually give the Dell the edge in gaming, but even that usually isn't a big lead. While the Samsung's lead in every other category is pretty large in most reviews/comparisions I have seen.

I am thinking about getting a larger LCD soon and I game a lot. The Dell is not on my list of ones to look at.

There was a previous thread about this. here

Displays are very subjective so it's best to try it out for yourself. I know that doesn't help much if you don't know anyone w/ Dell 2001FP. But many stores carry Samsung 213T although they usually have it connected via D-Sub (ugh). You can ask to try a FPS game demo and see if ghosting bothers you.

Also price plays an important role for lot of people. Dell runs 25% off 2001FP often so it's really $750 vs $1100 for Samsung if you can catch Dell on sale. Having seen both displays in person is it really worth $350 difference in price? To me, it's a big NO. I rather take the extra $350 and put that towards another 2001FP for dual monitor or get the top of the line videocard so I can game at 1600x1200. To me ghosting is bigger deal as both displays have excellent 2d.

Whatever you decide make sure you buy from somewhere that has good return policy on pixels and such.

2001FP (analog) 3.5, Extremely present at 1600x1200. Analog signal is not capable.

So, this seems pretty equal to me. Almost all the advantages for the Samsung come when using the Analog input. How many people are going to buy an LCD this expensive and use an Analog input. It's a shame if they do. In any event I would say they are equal performance wise. It always comes down to personal preference and the exact use of the monitor.

Those scores are pretty similiar, but its just numbers. At the end of the article he says a few things like "Even though the Dell 2001FP is a high end device, the SyncMaster 213T is the definitive ultra-enthusiast device." and "i didnt think there was anything better than the 2001FP until i got the 213T". Though as I said, the Dell takes the lead in games. Though not by much. The thread Naustica mentioned is a good one. A few people in there that have or had both, and out of the ones that had both I am pretty sure all preferred the 213t. And in the part of the review on here that shows the screen shots of the Matrix the Dell looks horrible nest to the Samsung, at least in my opinion.

I agree, the 213T's image quality looked nicer in a lot of the screen shots, but I do have the 2001FP and it is an amazing screen. I'm sure whichever monitor EnderNine decides on he'll/she'll be happy.

The 213T is better. Its just more expensive than the 2001FP. The 2001FP still fares better than many other LCDs ive seen.
