Samsung 204T lcd

ive been searching for a pair of lcds to upgrade to and i pretty much made my mind up on a pair of samsung 213Ts. i willing to spend the money and from what ive seen and read they are great. i cant order till july so i have just been browsing around to see if there is anything else. i came across the samsung 204T. searching in froogle only hits at small companies which are back ordered.

the samsung site either doesnt say, or i couldnt find it, but is this a new model just starting to hit the shelves? from what i can see it is a much better one than the 213T. it is about an inch smaller but its 16ms vs 25, much higher contrast ratio, less power consumption, smaller pixel pitch, and still 1600x1200, which is what i need.

im just wondering what everyone thinks about this and if samsung makes good monitors. from what ive seen in stores they look better up front to me. im new to the lcd game so go easy..haha

I was also about to purchase the Samsung 213T. I then found the 204T on Samsung's website and have decided to wait. Good news is that the black version will be available 6-27-05 and the silver, which I want, 7-8-05. I do not game a lot, my other monitor is the Samsung 193P and it's 20ms response time is perfect for what I do. The 204T's 16ms response time should be really nice. There will be a new 21.3" panel LCD...but they are just now scheduled for production and will not be available for some months.

thanks for the dates...looks like ill be waithing for the silver as well.

I didn't look at the specs close, but it's possible this is the same panel as in the Dell 2001FP. I'd look into it and make sure it isn't, because if it is you might as well buy the Dell for less money.

The Dell 2001 uses the LG.Philips LCD LM201U04.

The 204T uses the Samsung LTM201U1 panel. Higher contrast, brighter and a Super-PVA panel.

Nice info, tjx. It's funny how close the panel model numbers are, lol.

Yes they really are. I am just sold on Samsung panels, believe me I have tried a lot of different LCD's.

For example, I have a Samsung 193P and a Dell 1905FP, both with the same Samsung LTM190E4-L02 panel. You would think they would be pretty close in performance. However, the Dell just doesn't have the same color quality and even the response time is noticeably slower. I contacted Samsung and they said it all comes down to the electronic components inside the monitor, which different manufactures choose to implement.

i just preordered 2 of the silver 204ts from here

price was the lowest i could find and the website has a great rating on reselleratings so i couldnt resist.

i just bought a black one from fry's for 570 AFTER rebate, but it seems its even cheaper online! but i dont feel like dealing with all the hassle. but so far, this monitor has been everything its suposeed to be.

i had a viewsonic vp201 prior to switching to this one (i'm trying to see which one i like) which is another 20.1" LCD based on the LG.Philips panel that has almost exact specs as the 204t except the 204t has a higher contrast ratio and brightness.

so basically, the 204t is cheaper AND better! so i'm sticking with this one.

i do have one gripe though, i can't figure out how to adjust the height... anyone that has experience w/ samsung monitors please help?

If it's anything like the 213T, the process isn't obvious. Try reading the manual, I seem to recall seeing something about adjusting the height in there... 😉

w00h00 😀

I have been searching for a good 1600x1200 LCD, & while i was considering settling with the Dell, that's not gonna happen now! 😀

i still have my two backordered from the place above but ive been watching other stores to see if the silver comes in stock. according to this store the ETA has been pushed back to 7/18.

Bumpage!

I'm hoping someone has gotten theirs by now.

I've pretty much decided this is the monitor is want, unless something better comes out before i can order this one.

Anyone found any place in Canada that sells these?

WOW.

thats my first impression.

just got them set up...2 of these on dvi is incredible.

color is absolutely beautiful. i opened up paint and checked out each color. black is blacker than my old crts, white is absolutely perfect. all other colors look just as vibrant.

there is a tad bit of ghosting while dragging a window but it is very minimal and is instantly gone when you stop dragging. i rarely game but i can tell there will be no problem.

only 1 of my 2 has a singular stuck pixel. its stuck on red at the bottom left corner of the screen exactly on the edge of the taskbar. i didnt even notice it until i fullscreened explorer and was 2 inches away from the screen with my eyes. at a normal distance i cant see it.

again the 204t is absolutely incredible. i am going to get a hold of a digital camera and get some pics up soon.

Only one dead/stuck pixel is impressive on a screen that size 🙂

I am hoping my order request with TechonWeb goes thru, since i'm in Canada.
I am hoping they will do it for me, since they have to look it over apparently.

I got mine a couple weeks ago. It's my first LCD, but I've been very impressed. I don't notice any ghosting, but then again, I'm not really looking for it. I play a lot of BF2, and I'm loving it. Also, no dead pixels on the monitor. I got mine at Fry's...

I'd probably be all over the 204t if I wasn't convinced that 16:10 is the new 4:3 for computer displays. I'm holding out for a panel that can do 1080 HD content, of which a 1600x1200 panel cannot (not wide enough)

TankGuys has ordered one for me, so i should have one by the end of the month, depending on when the RAM they are trying to get for me comes in 😀

I use the 213T everyday at work - its pretty awesome. I chose that one over a 20 inch model for the larger pixel size - much easier on my eyes.
