Samsung 191T

I'm the new owner and of a Samsung 191T and I have mixed reactions about this monitor. First of all the monitor is great for general use. It has perfect screen geometry which I love after using a Sony G400 for over a year and a half that had pretty poor geometry no matter how much I messed with the settings. So in that respect I am 100% satified. There are zero dead pixels as far as I can tell having looked at solid backgrounds of various colors. Typing this message the text is as clear as my eyes have ever seen with clear type.

But here come the reservations. There is only one game that I play and that is Madden. Anyone that has played Madden knows that the players do not move that fast. When playing Madden I cannot tell at all whether a player catches the ball or not, it is that blurry. You kind of have an idea by the way the player moves when the ball gets there whether he caught it or not but it's just one big blur.

I suppose expecting to see the same thing I see when playing on a CRT is unreasonable. I thought it would be closer than this but it's not. But that's not to say that I cannot get used to it. I do like enough things about the monitor the I am satisfied with the purchase. Most of the time I spend using the computer is not playing Madden but I do play it quite a bit since it's football season. I guess I'll be getting beat at Madden more until I can get used to it but like anything else, after a period of adjustment it will seem natural I'm hoping.

I bought the monitor at CompUSA for $899 and CompUSA has a $100 rebate on the 191T until January of 2003. For $799 I think the monitor is worth it, not to mention I get a tax deduction for a monitor like this which makes the $800 seem more like $450...what a deal.

did you select the correct resolution with madden? maybe it defaults to 800x600. Your monitor is at 1280x1024 so maybe its just trying to display the lower resolution.

I have both the desktop and Madden set at 1280x1024 and I'm using the DVI connection through a G4 4200.
