Has anyone seen the Samsung 191T? How would you compare it to other LCD monitors, disregarding the price?
I really appreciate any suggestions!

Hey there! I just ordered one today and it should be here tomorrow. I'll let you know how it is. Feel free to ask questions! I have a camera in case you wanted to see any shots that aren't available online.

You should also consider the Planar PL191M spec for spec the same as the Samsung 191T, however it is cheaper and with free shipping this month. Use the "click and Compare" button at the link above to see how it compares to the 191T.

First of all, when I consider a monitor, I find looking at various hardware reviews the best thing to do. Fine, the Planar may be cheaper, but according to Anandtech, the 191T is the best monitor on the market, disregarding the price that is. I have currently purchased the monitor, and I will be recieving it tomorrow. I know it will satisfy my needs (design and programming ((((gaming))))) because I am well aware of the quality. Just looking at the specs doesn't tell me anything, its the actual picture quality which is defined by the contrast, sharpness and color depth. The samsung 191T owns each category to an extreme, and further the review you posted did not compare the response time. The samsung has UNDER 25 ms response time, unlike the Planar, which has 25 ms. Obviously, monitors direct is somehow affiliated with planar :) Anyway, plz, send pictures and thoughts of the 191T and post them here!!!!

We have no more affiliation with Planar than we do with Samsung. We sell the 191T and here is the link. LINK to Samsung 191T

Being in the industry I happen to know that both Samsung and Planar source the panel?s from the same company, thus they are spec for spec identical even the 25ms response time.

Planar simply has a better deal and I thought you guys would appreciate knowing it. Sorry you already bought the Samsung, you could have gotten a better deal on the Planar.

Ok guys. I have taken some pics. Yes, I know. I have a crappy camera. You don't need to blurt it out and remind me, okay? ;)

The LCD is extremely nice. What the pictures show orange is actually silver. :) It matches my Lian Li PC65 case beautifully. The colors combined with the fine-toned buttons and lights give off an "elite" look. The dual inputs are very nice. However, I would have liked to seen a dual DVI output, but include a DVI > Analog converter, as does my ATi AIW Radeon 8500.

The display is very sharp, as with most LCDs. I have bad eyes, which is why I chose LCD over a high-end CRT monitor. The fact that I cannot be bothered with refresh rates is a godsend.

Gaming was a bit of a suprise. Counter-Strike had noticable ghosting/trailing. I have no doubt this will be the same with all FPS games, however, I have only tried CS up to this point in time.

DVDs looked spectacular! I did not notice any trailing problems.

The color spectrum looks superb. Top notch quality, folks. However, black colors and other relatively dark colors seem to fade to black quite quickly. In Counter-Strike and in the night scenes of "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" it became very diffecult to see what was happening. Tunnels in CS appeared extremely dark...too dark in fact. Spotting an enemy in on this LCD will take some "getting use to."

Well, this concludes my "mini-review" of the Samsung 191T.

Oh, by the way. No dead pixels...yet. ;)

Well, here is my litte review of the monitor:

- Color: Excellent
- Sharpness: Excellent
- Design: Excellent
- Overall Judgement: The best monitor on the market.

Well, thats all i ahve to say, as I find that the monitor is extremely good, I have worked a whole day with it and I can really say that it is amazing. I would like to try it out on a DVI connection, as I know that this will improve the picture quality immensely.
Im sorry, but I currently do not own a digital camera, so I can not take pics of it, and show you guys.

Bottom line: Im happy with my purchase!

Agreed. Am I mad because I could have saved a couple hundred by buying the Planar? Absolutely not. This LCD has extreme qualities that are well worth the money. However, had I talked to Jim before I made my purchase, I probably would have gone with the Planar and used the extra cash towards a future NV30 or the current ATi Radeon 9700 Pro. ;)

hitachis latest offering (21" though i think) is supposd to be the best for gaming . It has a 15ms pixel rate which is the best out there
