If someone is interested in a new, sealed 1900FP for $750 + shipping, please send me a PM. I'm receiving one on Tuesday, but will not open it up.

Ron,

I had a chance to "play" with a 191T at Best Buy. It's a pretty impressive monitor - with just a small footprint. If anyone has a real tight work area, the 191T is the only monitor to get. :)

$820 shipped at thenerds.net

By the time you get done adding tax to the rebranded dell, you're better off with
the samsung (3yr warranty vs. 1yr from dell -- worth having on such a pricey item). *

I think there's a price cut filtering through on these (Amazon briefly had them for
$799 shipped earlier this week, and I see Tech Depot is doing the same but
with shipping), so I'd say anyone who's really wanting this model should hold out
a bit as we head into the holiday season (I suspect we'll see a sub-$700 deal
sometime soon).

* [oops my bad, the 1yr warranty bit was from another model I was comparing against]

Be careful on mis-stating Dell's warranty policy on the monitor. The warranty is not a 1 year warranty, but it is a 3 year warranty. Stop spreading rumors. However, I do agree with the rest of what you've stated.

Can you pivot the Samsung monitor? I have the Dell and the stand doesn't allow you to pivot the screen.

The Samsung 191T can and does pivot. I was playing with one at Best Buy the other day. While this is a neat feature, I feel that it would only give me a marginal benefit while Web surfing. However, if I worked with documents on a continous basis and intended to keep it in the "vertical" mode, I'd definately own the Samsung 191T. If I didn't need the vertical mode, the alternative model by Dell is still a very good monitor at a very good price.

Edit: opps, that is the 181T.

Hmm. I just was over at newegg and I saw it for $750+ 15 for shipping. I can't believe no body saw this one yet. I doubt they changed the price any later than Friday evening. I bough a Dell for about $10 more last week. I hope the price doesn't drop to $500 by Christmas or I will feel totally ripped off. This is definately a great monitor.

I know what you mean. I bought a notebook computer in July for $2100 (it was a great deal then) but I don't even use it that much. I doubt it will not be worth even $1000 to me in the long run. My advise is not to buy a notebook computer right before school starts because that is the time when everyone jacks up the prices.

Don't feel so bad... I was in CompUSA today and watched some chump buy this monitor for $999.99 and the worst part was that it was the display model and he didn't even bother to ask for some $$ off. I was going to say something then I looked at his cart and saw he was buying parts of an entire PC there... he had the Radeon 9700 ($399!), the insanely overpriced WD retail drive, some crappy CompUSA.... I sat there and added it up.. this guy paid about $600 more than he would have had he simply used Pricewatch.

Don't say a word. We need guys like this to keep the CompUSA's in business so we can get in on the deals that they have once in a while. :)

haha.. yeah I should mention I was there to get the 40gb Firewire drive for $50 after MIR, quickly denied the "extended service" plan and got the hell out.

I did want to play with the Samsung LCD since they were the only ones that had it in stock, but this chump already had it unplugged and was actually boxing it up himself (while the salesman stood making an arm pumping motion and saying "cha-ching, cha-ching").

Tomorrow he will brag to his buddies how much he saved by putting together his own PC.

I went to ChumpUSA today to specifically play with the Samsung 191T monitor. However, someone had jacked the mouse from the system. To quote the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld: "No Samsung 191T for you to play with."
