samsung 172x

I just heard about a new LCD from Samsung (in my local newspaper of all places), the 172X. Claims to have a 12ms response time as opposed to the 25ms time that most panels seem to have. Anyone know anything about this? Is the claim true? Anyone have any experience with these?

They say that most of the low response time LCDs are only 16-bit with dithering... Well, Tabb, just name a few, say, a million, of your favorite colors that a 24-bit monitor can produce (16.7million) that a 16-bit panel can't. I mean, these 16-bit panels can ONLY show 64,000 colors, so what are a million others that you like? 😛

65,536 colors to be exact.

24-bit color is 256 shades of green, red and blue.

256x256x256=16.7million
