I'm looking right now in the box (my dad got me it for collegE) and I can't seem to find a USB cable - did yours come with one or no? If it did I think I might have to go make an exchange...

Most printers don't come with the cable. It's sort of a gentleman's agreement between the printer mfr's and the resellers.
. You see, the dealers can't make anything on the printers so they generally try sell the cable as an add-on sale to a printer at a highly inflated price (~$20. for a 6' USB cable). You can go to newegg.com and look at the pix of the 1710. All it shows is the cd, manual, power cord and toner cart - no USB cable.
. If you need one, I happen to have an extra of the same Belkin Pro series 6' that the stores sell for $20. It's brand new sealed pkg. $11. shipped first class mail. LMK.

I went one better for my Samsung ML-1710. Ordered 3 10' USB cables for $1.25 each from compgeeks. Including 3 day shipping the total was less than $9 and now I have 2 extras in case I need one down the road. I agree $20 for a cable is a little steep. Aren't they satisfied with $40 ink cartridges!
