I believe this is my third post.

At Staples, they are selling this monitor for $329.99 with $80 rebate.
There is also $20 off $200 coupon code "40081" on it that ou can use during the check out.

Then there is another rebate from Samsung for $50

So after all, you pay $329.99 - $80 - $20 - $50 = $179.99.

I thought this was pretty good deal...

so tempting yet 6 bit monitor is frankly a NO WAY IN HELL. I don't know about you folks but 8 bit per pixel is VERY important for me. If you don't have that you can't watch movies or do photography to perfection. And that blows! I hope the industry does not go towards this 6bit scheme.

Care you elborate that more or maybe this isnt' the place. I have a Dell 1702fp for my mom for movies, is that a 6-bit scheme.

Why is it important and how can you tell?

I don't play games nor care about 6 bit or 8 bit business.

I just placed an order after searching. Cannot find any better deal at this time and I really want an LCD for my desktop PC. If I recall, this one has 8ms response time and that's good enough for me.

i too agree. the whole "ms race" is so very much like building cars with no handling and lots of hp. people seem to think the ms number is all that matters.


i personally am not much of a gamer, and even when i do my 25 ms panel does fine. the thing keeping me from switching is i havent been able to find a decent panel to replace mine at a good price. most of the "deal" panels now are 6bit and draw people in with their guady ms numbers.

my current panel is a 20" 3 year old planar. sure its 25ms and looks old style. but the color reproduction is great.

Please elaborate. I don't see the coupon code at Staple.com...just the $50 easy rebate and the $50 mfr rebate. Can I go to Staples and use the 40081 coupon code or must I do it online?

Look at the OP's first post. The coupon is listed there, and you use it when checking out.

Checking on Samsung's site, you are correct--8ms response.

I might give this a look then.

I ordered the 17", so I filled in the EasyRebate info and sent it in online. When my monitor arrives, I'll use the UPC and packing slip to send off to Samsung for their rebate. I'm assuming you can do the exact same thing for the 930B.

I just payed at least 50 bucks more for this at Compusa, even after two rebates. That 930b for 300 bucks is quite an amazing deal.

I can't say yes or no, but I would assume so since they are two different rebates (one is from Staples, one is from Samsung).

I'll find out as soon as my monitor arrives. ;)

The info on the samsung rebate only says that it can't be combined with any other Samsung rebate. Staples can give you whatever rebates they want to try and get you to buy their stock, and it doesn't affect the Samsung rebate. Staples rebate doesn't require UPC. And the price on the receipt will be pre-rebate.
So no reason Samsung wouldn't honor.

I took a quick look at both printed rebate forms. Both run from 5/1 to 6/18. The Staples needs to be submitted by 8/17 while the Samsung must be sub by 7/18. The Staples is an Easyrebate that does not require mailing while the Samsung is a mail-in to Mesa, Az. The Staples refers to SKU 599752 while the Samsung refers to UPCs 729507 & 708249.

I am going to call Staples to confirm that their rebate is separate from the Samsung. Based upon the differences above I believe this to be a dual-rebate deal. If it is, I'm in.
