I know this has probably been asked a lot but I haven't seen a comparison between the three monitors that I need to choose from and they are Sony G520, Sansung 1200NF, or IBM P260. I am pretty sure I can get them all for around the same price. The IBM is about the same price as the samsung while the sony would be about 50 dollars more. I am wondering though, which would be the best choice in you guys opinions? I am not sure how the service is on either one of these companies either, if the monitor dies or something, I dont want like the company making me like send it back first, and then in like 2 weeks after they like finish inspecting it they send me a refurbished one. I dont want that, so any help would be appreciated.

The Samsung is around $800, where can you get the IBM and the Sony for around that price?

Samsung is the number 1 supplier of monitors world wide!
(saw it in an add at the movie theatre ;))

Normally I'd say Samsung because the 1200NF is usually about 2/3s (or less) the price of the Sony G500..and I thought the IBM was pretty pricey too...

Except for reputation I really don't think Sony has anything on Samsung....

Since the IBM and the Sony both use the same tube, I would probably eliminate one of them. IMO its a toss up between Samsung and IBM, both have superb specs and image quality, I dont know of the IBM has BNC inputs, but Samsung does.

I've had the samsung 900p it was a pretty good monitor i hafta say. But does the ibm use like the E tube or the G tube thats what I wanna know because I heard the G is much higher quality. I dont even know what bnc is can you tell me about that?

There is no difference in E and G, they're the exact same tube, except G has higher specs. That IBM has very high specs, so its comparable to the Sony G.

1200NF is $695 at emscomputing. Took them awhile to get it out the door but its here now. There is also a $30 coupon for the 1200NF. Search the hot deals forum for the link. Let me ramble a little about it. If I had to use one word to discribe this monitor, it would be big. Although not much deeper than my 17inch. I'm assuming my Voodoo 3000 does not perform well at 1600by1200 because the text is fuzzy. Both the D-SUB and BNC connections appeared the same. 1280 by 1024 is nice and sharp. Some have talked about distortion in the corners but I can't see it. I just got it home tonight so thats about all the review I can give you right now. Man this thing is big.

ok, so I guess I will like flip a coin between the ibm and the samsung. The sony warranty isn't as long as the samsung or the ibm either. Thanks for the help everyone.

<< Have you gotten yourself a Samsung yet? >>

If that was directed at me no I haven't, I'm keeping my 17" for now for portablitiy (I move at the end of April, then again at the end of August, then again either at the end of December, or maybe next April).

Once I finish School and stop moving every 4-8 months I'm going to get a 1200NF. For now a monitor that big would get kind of annoying.

But I went buy a store downtown that had a G500 and a 1200NF on display besides each other, I couldn't tell the difference even at 1600x1200 and the 1200NF is soooo much cheaper.

I'm a firm believer in Samsung monitors :)
