My wife unboxed a Samsung ATIV9 2014 edition (the 15.6" model last night). She had me do some of the setup. First impressions:
Very solid and substantial notebook. It looks whispy thin and flimsy in pictures and it is thin, but it's solid. almost hefty. Good feel.
Screen is nice, though it didn't seem all that bright. Perhaps I wasn't getting the settings right.
The keyboard and trackpad are very nice. The trackpad tracks cleanly enough for my finicky wife, and the keyboard has great feel.
Windows 8.1 is a lot more windows 7 like than I expected it would be. It is fairly easy to toggle between metro view and a very familiar view to a Win 7 user, though I barely tinkered with it.
I need to install an SSD in my Asus N56VZ as soon as possible. That tablet-like response is really compelling. The next sub $90 quality 256G SSD gets my money.
Overall, very high quality, albeit at a price. ($1350 on sale for the I5 model). My wife buys every 6-7 years, so I'm not concerned.
