Sampling sounds from DVDs

Is there an easy way to sample certain sounds from a DVD? Specifically, I'd like to just save sound clips from movies. I have a DVD-ROM drive and PowerDVD. I know I can rip the whole audio track to a wave file and do it that way, but I would hope that there is an easier way. Ideas?
