same workgroup on different routers not seeing each other

So let me just start with the setup i have a motorola 5100 cable modem which goes to a linksys wrt54g router. Off of this router is a wired xp desktop and two wireless xp laptops. Also attached to the linksys i have a gigafast ee-400r router which runs across the house via cat5 to another room. Attached to the gigafast i have 2 wired xp desktop. Now for the problem. I have set them all up under the same workgroup for file and printer sharing, but the computers that are on the linksys can see each other but can't see the ones on the gigafast and vice versa. I checked the gigafast router page and there is no firewall and i can't see why this is happening. Any help is really appreciated.

ok i've started to look at this and there is an issue with getting them in the same ip range. The linksys can only hand out 192.168.1.whatever ip's and the gigafast can only hand out 192.168.8.whatever ip's and there is not way in the router to change the .8 ip pool. I am now wondering about my other options, either a new router or switch, or just wireless cards for the two machines.
