Same speakers, different sounds?

So I bought two Polk Monitor70 speakers and i sometimes feel like the left is a bit louder/better/more detailed than the right. Audyssey has them set at the same level (-9db) and distance though (the angle is the same also). Am I nuts? All wires are set up correctly as well.

I guess it could be speaker break-in, or maybe ive just been watching movies with sounds that originate from the left more often/end on the left more often. I would say maybe my right ear is worse than my left, but I usually hear better out of my right ear, so it cant be that.

Thanks

Try it with any sound processing(audyssey) disabled to eliminate that as an option, also make sure to disable any sound processing the source might be doing(dvd player, TV, etc).

Also are both speakers the same distance away facing the same direction and both have the same walls/shelves/whatever around/beside them?

Switch the speaker wire around as well to make sure it isnt in the wire itself, if the sound difference follows the wire it could be shorted or broken causing a resistance change which would effect volume.

Other than that i dont know what to tell you other than i love my monitor 70's :)

It appears to be doing it regardless of whether audyssey is on or off. I was already gonna do that tomorrow (the wire thing) to make sure it wasnt my receiver, just way too lazy to do it today haha!

Thanks for the advice, and I'll let you know! I dont know if im just a fuckin weirdo or what. Otherwise, they sound great. :D

Although, it seems like sound only really comes out of the top. I think thats where the tweeter is...i thought sound would come out of all four of the 6.25" woofers. Guess i just dont know what im talking about!

Play a CD with test tones and start from the bottom. If no sound comes out, you are right and the speaker's pooched - probably a loose wire in the crossover.

You can download them anywhere or you can make your own with various programs... sorry, too lazy to help here. Trust me when I say they are plentiful.

Listen to some bass songs. The monitor 70's have two 2 6" speakers crossed over for mid range and 2 crossed over for low range. The 4 6" speakers will not all replicate the same sound, and do not have alot of overlap in the crossover.

Speaker placement most likely. Probably getting strange reflections off one wall or furniture or something.

Also have you tried swapping the physical speakers locations yet? It is possible there's just a loose wire in one of them too.
