I asked this question before but got no response so I figure why not give it another try?

I am running RedHat Linux 6.2 with Samba 2.0.6.
I know this is all correctly setup to work with Windows 98SE. I checked it.
I am also running Windows ME on my main machine. This where the problem is.
I can ping the nic from the linux box and windows ME box no problem.
The problem is I can not see the linux box drive that I shared.
Is there any current fix for this? Please say there is I don't want to go back to 98SE it is slower.

Thanks for any input!

I've always had problems with this, but sometimes i got it working, and sometimes not. Go over the /etc/samba.conf file. And in windows, do a find on the computer, and put in it's ip, instead of going to network neighborhood if that's what your doing.

I think I read somewhere in these forums that the current version of Samba won't work with Win ME - did you check Samba's web site to see if they have a fix or work-around?

Are you using the exact same username and password to log into the WinME box as with the Win98SE box? If not, do you have the user of WinMe created on linux with a smb password? I am reading that WinMe works fine w/Samba. Do you have the same workgroup name? Can you search under WinMe for the samba server name? ie netbios name.
