Samba works same on every unix-like OS. There are minor differences, but nothing that should be a show-stopper. VMS is a whole 'nother story thought...
The openbsd.org site isn't up to date enough for you?
The OpenBSD.org site is not up to date. Well, not since they released 3.0 early (as far as I can tell). But, evolution vs revolution, nothing big (except the packet filter switch) happened. Most of 2.9's docs will work with 3.0.
