If you guys out there are running Samba 2.2.2 through 2.2.6 then there is a new version out. Check out http://www.samba.org for a new version of this fileserving software. The vulnerability is a ROOT exploit so you really need to pick this up if you are running it.

PS: The last USA mirror (both website and FTP) seems to be the quickest, any time of day.

for some reason the samba servers at work have a HUGE amount of slack space. slack is in, 10GB of data will take up 50GB of space on the server.. i have brought it up to the sysadmins but they don't seem to be too concerned.. not quite sure what is causing it though..

We are not having any problems like that with ours. They seem to be working fine. Not for sure what is going on with yours I have never heard of it.

Of course you need to try all the normal routes....search the internet, search the forums, search your mother (hehe).

Linux is everywhere so I am sure someone out there has had the same problem and knows how to fix it.
