Sam Adams Summer Ale

ok this is a repost, but the last thread was so old i couldn't bump it.

i just had this beer after a long while - i forgot how good it is, how smooth it goes down.

Whats your rating, on a 0 to 10 scale? I give it a ten.

I'd give it an 8 (which is a pretty high rating from a beer lover like me). It is indeed very smooth and tasty especially in the summertime. I would suggest anyone who has not tried it to drink one.

hey can you suggest some better ones that i could give a go

I like Stella Artois. Its supposed to make you violent after you drink it. Guiness is good. Bass is good. Newcastle is okay but not as the ones I just mentioned. I don't drink American beer, especially the Lites. That stuff tastes like crap.

One last note, I rank Heineken at the same level as Newcastle. I've to try Boddingtons.

boddingtons rocks when you want something heady. i highly recommend - probably a 9 on my scale.

Perhaps the crappiest Belgian beer you can find in the states.

i gave it a 6.

it's basically a belgian wheat watered-down (in a figurative, not literal, sense) for american tastes, plus some spices.

it's tasty, but it pales in comparison to the real thing.

if i wanted an american take on the style, i'd pick up an Allagash.

I agree, it really is a great beer for when it is over 100 outside. I prefer stouts, but they really don't taste as good when it is really hot outside.

Another big thumbs up for allagash. It's quite the sipper because of it's high alcohol content and the way the taste kicks you in the teeth, although for a good belgian beer, it can't be beat. I mean the Trippel BTW, haven't tried the Dubbel. As for a good belgian white, try Hoegaarden. Blows any american interpretation straight out of the water.

Zero. It's light, weak and lemony. You might as well be drinking a Corona.
Corona isn't an ale.

I like it, but then again, I like wheat beer a lot. I think I almost prefer American Wheat to German wheat (although I do like a good Belgin Wit now and then). The summer ale is a great beer for drinking at the grill.

i like it. but I like winter better. i basically like anything Sam Adams.

gave it a 9/10. Winter would get 10/10

Bud would get a 3/10

40's would get a 0/10

nah, the hoegaarden recipe (atleast what you get in the US) has been changing in recent years. it's a shadow of its former self.

Allagash is Excellent, also, Ommegang is Fvcking awesome.
If you're dead set on a wheat ale, it might be worth checking out Goose Island.

I haven't tried the Sam Adams Summer Ale, however, I have tried the Sam Adams White Ale, and it was actually a good brew, Probably a 5 or a 6 IMO.

What kind of beer do you like? I've been drinking a ton (probably too much) of Goose Islands Nut Brown Ale and Oatmeal stout. But I am not sure where exactly you are located so Goose Island may not be available. It's brewed in Chicago and available all over the Midwest (I'm in Kansas City). Another good midwestern beer that's only available around here in Boulevard Wheat, if you are ever around the area give one a try.

Don't talk about beer. I miss my microbrews. 🙁

Come to my hometown in the summer there are hundreds of microbrewers with test samples at the Taste of Madison 🙂 Last year I got so hammered I forgot where I parked 🙂
