Good evening, I have two dead Portege 3020ct laptops on hand and would like to salvage the LCD screens and use them as part of a home theatre cabinet. I did a quick Google search and found the following:

Seems as though almost everyone stops this conversion project once they find out that the controller to convert the signals cost around $200. Some other people were stating that a $50 Gamecube screen would be a better project. However I'm not looking into buying new screens or creating anything new, I just feel bad throwing out two laptops with perfectly usable screens. Has anyone been able to pull of a similar project to this for minimal costs? Thanks!

yeah i got a broken laptop with a nice 15" lcd screen that i would like to convert too

lotsa good articles you posted, i'll have to read over them and see what's going on
