Saltgrass Steakhouse

A Joe's Crab Shack right by my house recently closed down and I noticed they were remodeling the building. So I ran the address on my county's building permit site and found out it's going to be a Saltgrass Steakhouse. Never heard of it so I was curious if it's any good compared to other chain steakhouses. Kind of disappointed since there's already a Longhorn and Lone Star in the same shopping center, along with an Outback and Texas Steakhouse right up the road. But if it's good/affordable, then maybe I won't be too upset about it.

Affordable is pretty relative, I suppose, as I consider Saltgrass to be a bit pricey. I've been a few times, and I'd go back, but the Saltgrass is never my first choice. It's definitely worth a try though.

must be one of the locations that landry's didn't sell. saltgrass steakhouse is another landry's property. and like all landry's properties, is run by the mafia, and sells the sizzle rather than the steak. i think i'd rather go elsewhere first. (though, landry's two top end steak houses, vic & anthony's and brenner's, are excellent. they're also buying up smith and wollensky's.)

It's interesting that a Crab Shack (Formerly a Landrys restaurant) is closing down to make way for a Saltgrass (Currently a Landrys restaurant).

Tillman Fertitta and the entirety of his cloned restaurant empire can DIAF.

I'm pretty sure that they sold off the crab shack line in the later half of 2006.

right, but they kept a handful of locations. they didn't sell saltgrass. so, logically, that location is one that they kept.
The remaining 23 Joe's Crab Shack restaurants will either be converted to another Landry's concept, operated under a license agreement with JCS Holdings LLC or closed and sold, Fertitta said.

Yeah, I just saw on Wiki that Landry's owned Joe's up until 2006 when they sold the chain to J.H. Whitney and Co. So yeah, kind of ironic that one Landry's place would shut down to make way for another. Though, I'm not surprised Joe's closed because it made Red Lobster look like a 5-star seafood restaurant. The only thing Joe's was good for was seeing cute waitresses dance to "YMCA."

I'm sure I'll give Saltgrass a try since it's new and by the house but like most family oriented chain steakhouses, I'll likely only go back 1-2 times a year, if that. I just prefer my steaks cooked at home.

Thanks for the info. I was under the impression that they sold the whole lot of them.

The Saltgrass I went to was absolute crap. Though more and more I am loosing my taste for eating out at any chin resturaunt. They all see mto want to play loud music and try to make it a "fun" environment and really annoying waiters/waitresses.

It falls under the umbrella of a Landry's restaurant. I at there last night. The food was pretty good but as is the case in most Landry's restaurants the service is terrible.

Any good?

I've never been, as we do not have one. OTOH, a relative of mine that lives in another state said their's was very good(when I was visiting them and trying to decide what to eat for dinner while there-ended up going to a local mexican place instead).
