Sales Tax on Amazon?

I just got something on amazon and other then some bogus 1.00 charge that ill have to call them about, there was also sales tax added.

I checked there policy on it

Items sold by Amazon.com LLC, or its subsidiaries, and shipped to destinations in the states of Kansas, Kentucky, New York, North Dakota, or Washington are subject to tax.

I live in Florida and the Item was sold by "Amazon.com LLC"

Get your sales tax back. If they have no location (nexus for taxation) in FL they can't even pay the sales tax to FL. It's illegal for them to keep it.

There is no state income tax in Texas. When I file my taxes I only have to file a federal return. Its pretty awesome.

You know that you're supposed to declare and pay all your sales tax for out of state purchases at the end of the year, right? Just because the retailer doesn't have to collect it doesn't mean you don't still owe it.

That's a Use Tax....not Sales Tax. In my State (and I think most) it happens to be the same % as Sales tax.

right, and how many people actually do that? please don't tell me that you're the only one in the usa that actually does...

I do, if I've made a lot of purchases online. Paying this tax is much better than the alternative if you get Audited...you do realize that happens to people, right?
