Federal List doesn't go into affect until Oct. 1 and, even then, isn't it only those states west of the Mississippi River?

You should have reached through the phone and stabbed them.

:)

I *hate* telemarketers. I rarely pick up my home phone because its mostly "Hello! Have you thought about supplemental life insur..." *click*. And if one manages to get me to talk, I usually ask them if they can get me a good deal on my eletric bill. Or some other random bill. :)

Hey, these assholes know the rules AND they're annoying as hell anyway. I see no problem with suits brought against these leeches.

Just out of curiousity, what's the big deal? It's a phone call. You don't have to answer it. If you do, the hangup method works quite well and only wastes about 10 seconds of your time.

Wait until you buy a house and start getting 3-10 calls per evening. It becomes a big deal at that point. I basically just started laying down the law with each caller and that has stemmed the tide to basically nothing. You tell them to place you on their do-not-call list, you make a note of the company calling you and the date, if they deign to call you back again you sue. Costs $50 to file in small claims and it's almost a slam-dunk if you've documented everything. The laws are pretty clear as to what they can and cannot do. :D

i had a relative over from chicago and he did part time telemarketing. According to him if you use any foul language whille you talk to them , you get off the list. Not sure how accurate that info is or how widespread it's but that is what i was told.

This is the main reason I didn't have a land line installed when I bought my place. Having cable internet & tv, and a cell phone work nicely for me.

was thinking of cuting our line but couple of reason we haven't done it

1)if we need to call 911 it will be much faster from landline then from cell phone
2)in case of earthquake if any phone will work it will landline. Most likely the cell phones will not be operational right after the earthquake.

I can't remember the last time a TM called me. Then again I've been cell-phone-only for the past couple years.

1. I've had to call 911 from my cell, and got right through. I live in an area with the enhanced system though.

2. After an earthquake I would think land lines would be iffy too. Trees falling across wires, or even poles coming down could screw things up.

Either way, I'm happy with it so far.

So what do you get when you sue?

i hate how when you tell them to take you off their list, or call them back after they leave 6 messages in one day on your machine, they act like complete assholes, goddamn people are so bitter and pissy that they are too retarded to get decent jobs
