Salem's Lot

I watched the original Salem's Lot again on Saturday in preperation for the new one being released last night (and tonight) on cable. This is one of my favorite horror stories of all time and I was really looking forward to seeing a version that was done in present times.

Did anyone else catch the first part? What did you think? I'm going to hold out until after tonight's episode before really saying much but as of right now it just isn't looking very good. The whole backstory on the main character is laughable. Kidnapped by the Taliban? Give me a break.

Kinda slow in Part 1. The highlight was the construction worker calling out to his Doberman "CUJO!"

The original was also a two-part miniseries that was later condensed into one movie.

Yah, I saw the original series and can't seem to remember if what I watched on Sunday was the full version or not. I'm pretty sure it is because it sports all the pauses for commercial breaks that one would expect to find.

BTW, did you happen to watch a movie called Salem's Lot 2? Is that the one where everyone in the town is a vampire from the start?
