Recently i bought an 8 channel (digital only) logic analyzer for a discount price.
It was advised to my by my colleague. And boy, i am happy with it.
It samples at a maximum speed of 24MHz.
It has 8 inputs which are 5V tolerant and work at TTL 3V3 voltage levels.
It has a buffer ic and protective rc networks to protect it against ESD sparks.

I use it to test my 24 channel servo controller which i am developing.
And it works great. Can be found at ebay for a price between 10 and 20 dollars.
It is accompanied with software that ubpdates the firmware of the controller when connected to USB (A feature of the controller).

This makes me sad 🙁 . It looks neat though.

I'll take a LA that can decode 10 Gb SERDES please!

The stuff on ebay says it is "compatible with Saleae". But exactly how compatible is it? Can you just plug it in and run the Saleae Logic 1.1.15 software and it will find the device and everything will work?

those are (illegal) chinese clones. most of the price for the actual saleae models goes to software development (this is the developers' full time job). the actual hardware costs peanuts in comparison.

they have new faster "pro" models out but they're entering second-hand old HP LA price-range.

True. I was also suspecting that it was a clone. These devices are easy to clone because the microcontroller that is used from cypress does not have flash to store firmware. It has only ram and in this ram the firmware is downloaded over the usb connection. I forgot which model it was, but i know it is a model with an enhanced 8051 core.

I downloaded the latest version from Saleae and it works. But to be honest, i keep this software safe on my back up disks. Because i am waiting for the next update of the software that no longer supports the older (24MHz max)versions.

It is a cheap version, 10gb is not going to happen with it but for "low speed" analyzing, the software is great to work with and intuitive.
