sale and trade went wrong?

I sold my 5900 flashed to 5950u. card is working fine and i did not touch the fan or the white stuffs on card. Then few days ago buyer told me card is working fine and great. few days later he pmed me card is acting weird(weird this card was inside my desktop for 3 months flawless. I said try to reflash(gave him step by step instruction) After a day passed he pmed me that card is not posting. So i said just return to me and i'll refund. Today I got card but my dusty card is is cleaned(dont know what he used) and white stuff that was on ram and gpu was replaced by artic silver. I tried to reflash but seems card is just dead. It wont even post when i use secondary pci card. I think card went bad when he cleaned and replaced white stuff with artic silver. I'm going to rma this card. I'm not going to complain against him. If i cant rma this card i'll be just left with old tnt card on my desktop.
Just making a point that do not mod card and return it to seller.
 
You didnt ask him if he did anything to the card to make it not work before sending it back to you?
 
yah .. i say when you mod it all bets are off and you take responsibility. why didn't the buyer try to RMA it?

If he messed with the card physically, you don't owe him a refund.
 
he seems nice guy and im not going to blame everythinig to him.
He didnt say what he did to card when he sent me card back.
btw how do i remove artic silver? I tried dry hand tower but they are not coming off.

Try rubbing Alcohol + Swabs and let it air dry.

If he hardware modded the card after you softmodded it then you should blame him.

I'm a goody-two-shoes but even I wouldn't offer a refund after he went and messed with the heatsink. Actually if he broke it doing a hardware mod then it's dishonest of him even to RMA it. RMA is for a manufacturer defect not a user breaking it playing Mod Scientist.

Do i really need invoice or recipt of this card? its been long time and i dont think i have it.
I got this from circuit city so maybe they have it in their database.
Its my first time rmaing vid card.

Some companies want the receipt and you can most likely get it from CC. But if it was messed around with physically it probably won't be rma'able.
