I am interning at a dod contractor right now for $14 an hour

i am goin to be an senior and major in IS.

my title is engineering assistant, i am really just a programmer(mostly VB). This is my first internship as well. I do have a high gpa, not sure if it makes a difference. 14 was the initial offer they gave me, and i was more then happy with it, since most intern positions in MD pays ~10.

good luck and let us know how u do, and oh yeah most colleges are stingy when it comes to wages..

Thanks for the advice, everybody. Going to send in my stuff today; from what I've read here and heard from other people, I think I'm going to shoot for $15 / hr.

Nate

Good luck. The people talking about $15+ are out on the west coast where that stuff is inflated. You're in the midwest. I'd put $10 if it were me.

Even the people here are telling me to ask for $12 to $17 an hour, so $15 shouldn't be too bad. And I would be willing to negotiate a little bit. At least I'd still be making more than the $7.50 I was getting working retail 😛

Nate

You can ask for $15, but unless you have other better prospects, I'd take whatever they offer. The experience will be worth much more than the pay.

That's the plan 🙂
