This morning i was watching Office Space for the first time in years. Peter had just been hypnotized and was sleeping in and then the phone rang. Anonymous. I let it go to voicemail and it was my boss asking me if i was close by and if i could come in because we have a problem that needs some research.. i couldn't believe it. work on saturday. okay i expect it once in a while but it's just that i was watching office space at the same time but anyways.

i will probably get comp time later in the week since i have to work tomorrow, but what about the rest of you?

I am on salary. My salary is for 40 hours a week. I can choose between comp time or overtime for anything over 10 hours in a day ( I am on a 4/10 schedule) or 40 hours in a week.

I'm salary.

I work six full days a week in the winters. I've been called in after hours and on the weekends for various reasons the rest of the year.

I don't get overtime.

I will start receiving comp. time at some point. I've been paid overtime for 16 years and now a new CEO has cut overtime completely. Of course, my number of hours will drop as I'm not working as much as before for no extra compensation. Projects will suffer and, at some point, the company will have a choice to either pay overtime, hire another staff member, or kick my ass out the door. So yes, I can get comp time right now....but I'm not sure that I care right now.

I'm salaried, exempt. My company doesn't have an official comp time policy, but my manager lets me unofficially take comp time. I rarely work more than 40 hours in a week though. Occasionally I have to do some work on a weekend, because I can't install stuff on customer production servers during the week. In those cases I usually just work a half day on Friday.

My company bases project schedules on estimates from the developers, and they schedule less work than we are capable of completing (on the assumption that problems may come up); never more.

I'm salary based on 40 hrs/week. I can work overtime and get straight time pay, or work less on a future day in the pay period.

Salary on 45 hrs/wk + profit sharing. Overtime pays 1.5x. Also get bonus. I'm not complaining.

I'm not supposed to get comp time unless I work over 45 hours in a week. Then my boss says "we'll talk."

However, I just take long lunches, leave early, come in late, etc. to make up the time. Doesn't happen often.

Plus, we're moving our data center to another location by the end of this year and setting up a DR site. I'm pretty sure we'll be putting in insane hours completing those and I'll be damned if I don't get some comp time or OT.

I'm an accountant. Doesn't everyone work 80 hour weeks for 3 months of the year without additional pay?

(OK, it's not really that bad)

:D

I don't get comp time, but I don't really work overtime. I take short lunches and leave late, but I rarely get to work any earlier than "just in time".

My short-term outlook at work is to begin taking more and more liberties every day and to care less and less about the consequences.

:D :clock:   :music:

I'm salary. I work ~40 hours a week. It doesnt matter when I work those hours, or even so much that I work all 40 hours. I work until my job is done, whether that be 20 hours or 50 hours, 7 days a week or 3. It's a nice setup... I pretty much work whenever I want, and if im getting my work done noone complains.

I am salary, and work about 50-55 hours a week with no overtime. It doesn't bother me because I really like what I do, and would probably do it for free.

My base salary is pretty awesome, plus I get 10% annual bonus, so I'm not really complaining.

I think technically we're supposed to get paid OT... but there's an agreement within the office to accept comp time instead... since they really don't have the $$ to pay the OT anyway. lol

My old job supposedly had comp time, but most of my customers and managers got pissed off if I dared to take it and wasn't available between 9 and 5 Monday-Friday. The backlog of work also built up so quickly that I usually had to work more OT to catch up.

My new job pays by the hour. If they want me to work OT, that's fine with me... Ka-Ching! I've had a few weeks where I made more than I made in half a month at my old job!

same here. if I stay more than an hour late, I usually just make up for it by coming late the next day (though it really never works out... I just end up staying even later, but it makes myself feel good)/

if someone has to come in and work an extra day because someone called out or it's crazy busy or whatever, my boss will give the person a day off later.
