I was wonder if you like this. I see one comment on Newegg that one person's keys has the paint wearing off.

I like the idea of the letters being seen and the G15 is WAY too expensive for a keyboard right now.

I have been useing mine for about three months. Keys are quiet and have a nice soft touch to them. Good gaming keyboard.

It looks nice. Soft/Quiet key action. BUT, I can't get it to work w/ a USB kvm. Not enough juice, methinks. Also doesn't seem to like USB->PS2 adaptors.

Other than that.. it's fine. Has some heft to it as well.

I've had issues with keyboards in the past regarding the simultaneous keystrokes. I've gone with PS/2 for that reason (supposedly 10-20 simultaneous keystrokes at once). However, that has been incorrect with my last two keyboard buys. They both have had high simulatenous keystroke limits, except for certain combinations. It's easy enough to switch to a different keyboard layout and use different buttons for strafe jumping, movement, firing, weap switching -- but I shouldn't have to. Supposedly, USB has 6 keystroke limit, which isn't so bad so long as it is universally true to all USB keyboards.

What I'm getting at here is, in your experience, does the saitek keyboard max out keystrokes with any combinations you use? It would be great if someone could test strafe jumping (using alternating strafes while jumping will suffice if you never have done it) with arrow keys.

I was very disappointed when I had this issue with a logitech keyboard I got a couple years back.

I've had my eclipse since they came out pretty much. The day Toms Hardware did a review of it on there site, I went to Circuit City, and coughed up $60 for it. Worth every Penny IMO. The lighting is cool, if unnecessary most of the time. The keyboard has a great feel to it... (Though it did take me a week or two to adjust, coming off an old school Dell Clicky keyboard). I love, it and would recommend it any day fo the week. Good sturdy feel to it as well.

So neither of you have had a problem with the keyboard not being able to process a lot of keystrokes at once?

Nope, never in my wildest bashing of keys in a FPS game have I experienced a problem with multiple keystrokes on this keyboard.

I have the Saitek Gamer's k/b, which is an Eclipse, (only silver in finish) with an added game pad, that attaches via 1394 plug to k/b, other words, same 104 key, board.
No issues what so ever with multiple keys pressed, only once, but it was due to "hot keys" on my ctrl key, pushed 5x's inna row.
I've had mine 2+ mos. and the "D" key is starting to show paint wear, but I play a lot. I see the eclipse, has silver keys, with laser cut letters, (that allow the backlight to show through) where mine are black, with white paint, so that might not be an issue for you.
Guess that shipped cost is ok, I only paid $42 for mine locally, with the gamepad included. You'll like it, nice feel, and I <3 the backlit display.

The Eclipse has backlit keys, so that one, (@ gogamer) they changed the blue to red. Mine, the Gamer, has no backlit keys, only behind the keys are lit. (edges)
I'll see if they'll sell me the keys so I can change mine.

That's the one I have, it doesn't have the laser cut, backlit keys. My keys, (and that one), have painted on letters, but you get the extra gamepad.
(which sits in a drawer here.....)

yeah, only the eclipse has the nice backlit keys like the G15. I personally paid the extra money for the G15 because I need the volume control and media keys which neither of the Saitek keyboards have. After using the G15 for 2 months now I am really happy with it and I am surprised how much I use the macro keys for all kinds of stuff (websites, special characters, in games, shortcuts to apps) and I use the media display mainly when playing music while playing games or surfing on the internet to see what song is playing. A friend of mine has the Gamer keyboard and is really happy with it although she regrets not having backlit keys like the G15 but you can always get the Eclipse keyboard if you don't need the macro keys. Basically the G15 is just an eclipse keyboard with macro keys, media buttons and an LCD display. If you don't need any of these then get the eclipse and save the money.

Amazon had the G15 for $59.99 instead of $79.99 two weeks ago with free shipping but I just checked and it is sold out now...sorry.

I'm looking at getting a new keyboard and since my girlfriend works nights, I'd like a backlit one so I can play games while she's sleeping. I've read some reviews about this keyboard saying that it's great, but the backlight isn't bright enough. Does anyone that uses it think the keys are too dim? Also, does it make a difference if I were to get the blue vs. the red backlight? For example, is one color easier to see than the other?

Another vote for the eclipse. Nice lap keyboard for typing on the couch. The irregular shape things sticking out make it easy to grab without hitting any of the keys.

Lights are not bright enough though, especially when seen from an angle.

That's incorrect. There is volume control in the right upper corner.
