Can the backlighting be completely turned off if needed?

Yes it can.

Some say that this is really sturdy and some say that the keys wear off! Which one is it?

It depends on the user. I've seen some wear off and others show no sign of wear at all. All my Saitek's (including last generation) showed no signs of wear.

this or the G11? price is about the same... what do you think ppl?
anyone has both? thx!

I've had the G15, which is about the same, but with an lcd.

I absolutely hated it. The extra buttons on the left are great for binding keys, but the software for it was so buggy that it often froze at startup.

The keyboard is extremely bulky. Imagine another numpad attached to the left of your keyboard as well as your right side.

My keys wore off within a month. A freakin month. I had to RMA it for a new one and Logitech was great about it.

The only reason why I would get the G15 over the Saitek would be for the volume control (wheel on the G15) and for the extra keys (if you're into gaming).

But if you're anything like me, you wouldn't like the G15 too much. I sold it to get this Saitek. Both have their flaws and it seems I have side-graded more than anything.

sisq0kidd, thx for the heads up. i'm like you.. another numpad attached to the left of the keyboard is definitely annoying. i might pick one of these up for an after xmas present to myself  wish they make a wireless version tho.
