Saitek Eclipse II issues

I got the Eclipse II, and it's working great. The only problem I'm having is that I can't get the media controls to work unless the media window has focus.

In other words, if I'm surfing the net and try to pause a song, it'll react within the Opera window instead of pausing my music.

I went to Saitek's website (obviously), but there aren't any drivers for this keyboard. Any suggestions?

No, that was actually me trying it out one last time to make sure the problem wasn't going to disappear as soon as I decided to post. So I hit play and it... posted my thread. I thought I cancelled it in time, but apparently not. Damn broadband!

Seriously though... any help?

Does the keyboard come with any software where you could indicate which app the media buttons should control?

Otherwise, I don't see how windows could know that you don't want the keyboard to interact with the currently focused window.

Generally media buttons work on the media player regardless of what's in focus.
I can easily play/pause my music with my media keys inside a game.

As for the OP, not sure what the problem may be, might want to try out a different media keyboard to isolate the problem.

Hey Sqube, I found something on a forum and also on Saitek's site that may help:

From Forum:
just wanted to post an FYI message.
There are a lot of link in this section as to why the Dell Wireless Keyboard
does not work right.
My instance, ALL the keys did fine, but the Hotkeys and Multimedia part of
it did not.

After a day of grief, I stared reseaching what makes those work. (since I
knew it was in the Computers Windows XP and not the Keyboard. I tested that
on another PC).

What I found was, in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, and Services..
HID Input Device Services was not started.
An attempt to start it caused an error stating it could not start. "Module
Not Found".
More research led me to make sure my RPC service was turned on (It was).
And, Look for 3 files: hidserv.dll, mouhid.sys, mouclass.sys.
My hidserv.dll was not in the windows system32 directory. I found it in the
Cabs directory, extracted it (hidserv.dll). Started my service, and boom...
IT WORKED. I did the snoopy happy dance.

This may help solve a lot of those Wireless keyboard/mouse and other USB HID
Devices.
See ya

From Saitek:
Q2: The volume controls on my keyboard are not working. How do I fix this?

A2: The volume controls depend on a service that is part of Windows so if they're not working correctly then there's a problem with that service. Do the following to fix it:

Click Start>Run, type regedit and click OK

In the Registry Editor click the plus sign next to the following folders in order:

HKEY_Local_Machine
System
CurrentControlSet
Services
Hidserv

Click the actual HidServ folder and then on the right side of the screen double click the symbol next to type. In the small window that comes up change the value data to 20.

Then goto the sub folder underneath Hidserv called Parameters. If ServiceDll isnt there, right click in the right side of the screen, click New> Expandable String Value and call the new item that comes up ServiceDll (that's case sensitive). Then double click the symbol next to that and add the following value data into it %SystemRoot%\System32\hidserv.dll

Close the registry editor and restart and the volume controls should work.
