Saints Row Ultimate Franchise Pack: $13.74 at Steam

Saint's Row complete package is on sale for $13.74, which is stupid cheap.

I've never played any of them... never played any of the GTA's, and the only type of open world silliness I've ever played was Just Cause 2. (Which I really enjoyed.)

Sound off, AA forum: Are the SR's fun? Worth the price of admission?

My backlog is already stupid huge. Ugh.

Thanks in advance-

They're fun if you enjoy the humor, but if you don't then they'll be just ok but not terribly special open world games. Seems like a lot of people think the second one is the best and that 4 was second best and couldn't get into 3, but I was the opposite. I couldn't get into the 2nd one because it was just...it lacked a lot of polish and was just really rough (graphically and gameplay wise). I liked 3 the best. 4 was enjoyable (and if you can play co-op would probably be fun) but I liked 3 a lot more personally.

They finally got around to adding some modding tools, but last time I checked it still hadn't made a ton of progress (there's a first person mod being worked on that you might like for 4). 2 had some big unofficial mod(s) (Gentleman of the Row or something like that), and 3 had some other mods but doesn't seem like anything as in depth as what GTAIV got.

For less than $15 I think you could get your money's worth.

Anybody here get Saints Row 2 working properly?

I tried but it runs like shit. Also, SR3 is far better than 4. The story in 4 is ridiculously stupid and boring. Its also the exact same city with no changes what so ever, I don't understand how they passed that game off as a sequel, its more like an expansion or mod.

Own it . . . and I'll eventually play it. Eventually. :/

Not sure what to believe myself. Lot of people say SR3 was idiotic and stupid while SR4 brought clever writing back into it. Some, vocal, others say the opposite, that SR3 was the better game and that SR4 was an overhyped expansion. Given that SR3 had the giant purple dildo, I'm inclined to believe the first group.

I thought SR4 was amazing. Much better than SR3. It was fun, interesting, and didn't try and take itself serious. I paid full price and it was worth it, so $14 for the entire collection is certainly worth it IMO.

As for getting SR2 to run decently, look up the mod/toolset "Gentlemen of the Row". This is a complete package from stability improvments to extra customization options for the player and homies.

SR3 had way more coop oportunities.

In SR4, it kinda kills it, because of the super powers.

Part of the fun was being in the same car with your coop buddy.
As one drove, the other would shoot outside the window.
In 4, its all about super powers and gliding from one location to another.

SR 3-4 are both packed with fun-ness. Buy them! With all the DLC!! You need the space movie and clone add-ons for SR3 or your life will not be complete.

SR 2 plays fine for me on my Win7 -64 bit PC, but looks pretty dated graphically compared to the other two. i wasn't able to get into it after playing SR 3. I'll try it again someday, but I'm not in any hurry.
